You can’t make up this threat!

We got a memorable phone call a day after teaching a Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) Workshop at a small Florida hospital. The hospital operator received a scary phone call the morning after the workshop. The caller calmly asked, “Do you have any foreign doctors?” When the operator asked for clarification, the caller said, “My wife was killed by a foreign doctor, and I’m coming to shoot a foreign doctor.” He meant anyforeign doctor. The hospital quickly initiated lockout procedures, broadcasted internal warnings, and immediately notified police.  Officers apprehended the armed suspect within one block of the hospital. This was a happy ending because preparedness, training, and immediate action prevailed.

Key Takeaway:

Active shooter training and security procedures saved the day.

By the way, we love stories like this; keep ‘em coming.
