Expertise and Experience Highlights:


Dr. Hank Christen has been a consultant in the fields of emergency response and counter-terrorism for Department of Defense agencies, federal response agencies, and local government public safety agencies since 2000.


He was previously a Battalion Chief for the Atlanta Fire Department and Director of Emergency Services for Okaloosa County, Florida. He was also Director of Emergency Response Operations for Unconventional Concepts Inc., served as Unit Commander for the Gulf Coast Disaster Medical Assistance Team (FL-1 DMAT) and responded to twelve national level disasters including the 2001 World Trade Center Attack. Throughout his career he developed and implemented policies in collaboration with senior government executives in diverse areas such as the National Disaster Medical System, county and state administrators and universities.

In 2015 he worked on an analysis team of the Boston Marathon Attack. He is currently engaged with Paul Maniscalco in writing three additional books related to incident command and mass casualty response.


Hank Christen is a Miami native, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, and graduated as a Doctor of Education in 2009 at the University of West Florida. His doctoral specialty is Human Performance Technology.


Dr. Christen serves as a consultant with AS360™ reviewing online Learning Management System Programs and evaluating human performance through the use of AS360 exclusive Active Shooter Simulator Training. In addition, Dr. Christen assists with incident analysis, core competency assessments, incident lessons learned implementations, and AS36™ Technical Reports.
